Woman's Campaign Design
Many women today are bombarded with advertisements, peer pressure, and by social media with beauty ideals. Many will do diet trends while others may even starve themselves. Others may even struggle with obesity or binge eating. This leads to a negative body image among themselves due to their perception of appearance. For this reason, during Women’s Awareness Month, I wanted to bring awareness of eating disorders affecting women by promoting a positive message. To promote a positive message I designed the campaign slogan, “Eat for self care”.
Above is the rough sketches exploring many ideas I had. I decided to make an apple being squeezed by measuring tape to represent the struggle women with eating disorders face when looking at their appearance.
For the digital sketch process I chose the colors pink and green to represent femininity and health.
The font I felt fitted the campaign slogan the most was Bebas Neue Regular. For my final step, I used the whitespace to make a women’s arms and legs to make it clear that this issue impacts women.
I designed these posters to go with my campaign. I made a blue poster as well to suggest that this campaign could also be relevant to men as well making this campaign more universal as well. I also included other positive messages.
Here is a conceptual poster on a wall.
I also designed stickers that could be placed on anything.
Here are more examples of the sticker placement.
Finally, I designed an app Icon that could possibly be made into a real app that encourages body positivity in women.
My design was also featured in the Icons for Awareness 2020 exhibition which is on the Take Back The Week web page. Check it out for more information: http://design.sdsu.edu/tbtw2020/
